Events
These Olympian inspired events incorporate: Cardio, Strength, Balance and Stretching and are modified for both sitting and
standing participants:
- Dance Contest
- Golf
- Shot Put
- Soccer Kick-Off
- Basketball
- Horseshoes
- Darts
- Bowling
- Volleyball
- Walk and Wheel Race
Structuring of the Golden Games
- Opening Ceremonies, Events Begin, Closing/Medals Ceremonies
- Participating seniors are divided by sitting/standing
- Age groups are 55-70 and 71 and up.
- Participants compete in up to 5 events
- All participants are acknowledged with a certificate of participation
- Top three participants receive GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE medals for their results.
How to Prepare for the Golden Games
- Follow the monthly Training Guide, which outlines a fun training program for each event and directs the Recreational or Physical Therapist or Activity Director, on how to properly prepare, train and practice with their residents.
- Training logs and goal sheets are provided to track progress.
- Each participant has the opportunity to select up to 5 events in which to compete.
